Supercomputer predicts the final Championship table

The Championship season is now close to the halfway stage. Clubs have started to understand where they stand.

Last season, Burnley, Leeds United, and Sunderland have made it to the Premier League. But, Luton Town, Plymouth Argyle, and Cardiff City dropped to League One.

Now, Coventry City have been very strong this season. They are currently top of the table with 48 points. Middlesbrough sit second with 42 points.

Ipswich Town, Hull City, Preston North End, and Millwall make up the top six right now.

At the bottom end, Oxford United, Norwich City, and Sheffield Wednesday remain in the relegation places.

However, things can still change. But according to Opta, most teams will stay close to their current positions.

Under Frank Lampard, Coventry have been the best side so far. But their form has dipped slightly lately. They have just one win from their last four matches.

Even so, Opta still backs them to win the league. The supercomputer predicts they will finish on 92 points. Their promotion chances stand at 96.08 per cent.

Middlesbrough are five points clear of Ipswich at the moment. However, Opta expect them to finish four points ahead. Their chances of automatic promotion stand at 49.32 per cent.

At the bottom, Sheffield Wednesday remain in serious trouble. Opta gives them a 100 per cent chance of relegation.

Oxford United are also more likely to go down than Norwich City as things stand.

Also, Opta predicted the teams that will be in the play-offs to determine the third team to gain Promotion to the Premier League.

They think that Ipswich, Hull City, Preston, and Millwall will fight for that third place in the play-offs.

At the end of the season, everyone will find out how accurate their prediction is.
