After playing 11 years for Tottenham Hotspur, Son Heung-min left the club for a new challenge.

The 33-year-old South Korean joined the MLS club Los Angeles FC, becoming the most expensive transfer in the history of the tournament.

Son Heung-min is undoubtedly a legend at the Spurs, and his departure marks the end of an era. Many even argue that his legacy is bigger than Harry Kane’s because he has won a trophy for the club.

Over his time with the North London club, Son has played over 450 matches, scoring 173 goals and providing 101 assists.

So, when Thomas Frank and the Spurs board decided to part ways with the South Korean, they knew that replacing such a talismanic figure would not be easy.

Son Heung-min was not only an important forward for Tottenham, but he was also their captain.

As a result, after Son left, Tottenham had to find a replacement. They are targeting Savinho from Manchester City to fill the gap left by Son.

Additionally, there are talks of signing Rodrygo, but that deal appears to be very challenging for the Spurs to complete, as the player is uncertain about leaving Real Madrid for Tottenham.

Meanwhile, the Spurs needed a new captain. And now, Tottenham Hotspur have officially announced Christian Romero as their new club captain after the departure of Son Heung-min.

The Argentine was heavily linked with a move to Atletico Madrid this summer as Diego Simeone was pushing to sign him.

However, with this smart move, Tottenham have ended the Spanish club’s pursuit of the World Cup winner.

Now, a new era begins in the history of Tottenham Hotspur under the new manager, Thomas Frank, and the new captain, Cristian Romero.
