West Ham United’s relegation from the Premier League triggered immediate uncertainty surrounding the future of their manager.

Many expected major changes behind the scenes after the club’s painful drop into the Championship was confirmed on the final day of the season.

Supporters directed heavy frustration towards both the players and board during emotional scenes at the London Stadium following victory against Leeds United.

Reports initially suggested West Ham’s hierarchy were seriously considering a managerial change. However, the club have now made their position completely clear.

Despite failing to keep West Ham in the Premier League, Nuno Espirito Santo is set to remain as manager next season.

The club officially confirmed the decision after holding meetings with the Portuguese coach earlier this week.

In a statement, West Ham revealed Nuno remains fully committed to leading the club back to the Premier League. The statement read:

“We held meetings with Head Coach Nuno Espírito Santo early this week and are pleased to confirm that he has expressed his continued commitment to the Club – as we have to him.

“Nuno made it very clear that he is highly motivated for the challenge of guiding West Ham United back to the top flight at the first time of asking.  That must be the unquestionable goal for next season.

“Nuno has spent one previous year in the EFL Championship and it was an outstanding success as he secured 99 points to win the title with Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2018.”

Now, West Ham hope he can repeat that achievement once again. Nuno himself previously avoided discussing his future immediately after relegation became official.

So, the Portuguese coach appears ready to lead West Ham into one of the biggest rebuilding projects in the club’s recent history.
