AC Milan may be preparing for one of their most unexpected transfer moves of the summer.
With the striker situation still not fully settled, and after heavy investment in the winter window, it appeared that the club might not make another big splash up front.
But a new name has resurfaced, one very familiar to incoming manager Massimiliano Allegri.
Despite spending €35 million on Mexican forward Santiago Gimenez in January, the Rossoneri remain active in the market for a new number nine.
Milan’s coaching staff, led by Allegri, reportedly want a player with proven Serie A experience, physical presence, and the ability to lead the line immediately.
There is one striker Allegri has worked closely with before. He knows the player’s strengths, his mindset, and more importantly, believes he can thrive again in the Italian top flight.
According to Calciomercato, the interest from Milan is real but the deal will not be easy.
The player in question currently earns a net salary of €12 million per season, which translates to nearly €22 million gross figures Milan are hesitant to match.
Juventus, his current club, are keen to offload him unless he agrees to a major pay cut, something that seems unlikely at this stage.
There has been little concrete interest from abroad, apart from exploratory contacts made by clubs like Al-Hilal and Fenerbahce, both of which the player has reportedly rejected.
He is not interested in leaving Europe yet, and Milan could offer the perfect chance to restart at the top level.
The name now under serious consideration is Dusan Vlahovic. Juventus are open to selling the Serbian forward for just €30 million, a fee that would allow them to avoid a capital loss.
With Allegri also pushing to bring in Andrea Cambiaso, another of his trusted former players, Milan’s attack could be headed for a familiar, yet powerful reshaping.
