Tottenham Hotspur may soon lose one of their most trusted players at the back.

The summer transfer window is wide open, and clubs across Europe are making bold moves.

In Spain, one side has zeroed in on a Premier League defender who has been central to Spurs’ backline for years.

Atletico Madrid have been busy behind the scenes.

Their aim is clear, strengthen the heart of their defence.

Under Diego Simeone, defensive structure is non-negotiable.

They are now targeting someone who fits that mould perfectly, strong in tackles, sharp in positioning and no-nonsense when it matters most.

The bid on the table says a lot. A fixed €55 million with an additional €10 million in performance-related bonuses.

It is a package that could turn heads, especially for a player who has recently struggled with injuries.

Tottenham now have a decision to make. Keep their leader or accept a big offer for a player who seems ready for a fresh chapter.

The player himself appears open to the move. Talks have already taken place with Simeone, and things are moving quickly.

Reports from DSports say negotiations are at an advanced stage. Spurs fans will not like the sound of that.

The man in question is Cristian Romero, a warrior in defence, a Champions League-level player, and a World Cup winner with Argentina.

But his constant injury troubles have become a concern. And now, with interest from Spain growing stronger, it may be time for Spurs to let go.

If that happens, they already have a name in mind. Nathan Collins.

The 23-year-old had a standout season at Brentford and knows Tottenham’s new manager Thomas Frank well. Collins is strong in aerial duels and solid in one-on-one situations.

He could be the ideal replacement for Cristian Romero, should the move go through.
