Barcelona keeping tabs on England superstar

Barcelona attempt to strengthen their position domestically and challenge again in Europe.

Barcelona enter the new season after another successful domestic campaign under Hansi Flick, but their ambitions continue to extend beyond Spain.

The Catalan giants retained La Liga last season and secured their 29th league crown.

They also defeated their biggest rivals by the same scoreline to win the Supercopa de Espana earlier in the campaign.

However, Atletico Madrid ended Barcelona’s hopes in both the Copa del Rey and Champions League knockout stages.

Flick has since overseen another major squad overhaul as Barcelona attempt to strengthen their position domestically and challenge again in Europe.

Rodri headlined their summer business after completing a £65 million move from Manchester City.

Barcelona also strengthened their attack with Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi, while Robert Lewandowski departed on a free transfer.

Lewandowski’s exit has left Barcelona considering their longer-term options in attack despite already making significant investments this summer.

According to the Daily Mail, Barcelona are monitoring Harry Kane as the England captain discusses a new contract with Bayern Munich.

Kane has entered the final 12 months of the four-year agreement he signed after completing an £86.4 million transfer from Tottenham in 2023.

The 33-year-old currently prioritises extending his stay in Germany and remains settled at Bayern.

However, discussions continue over the length of his proposed new agreement, with Kane understood to want another three years.

Barcelona previously made their interest known. They are now keeping a close watch on those negotiations before determining their next move.

The England international remains a major figure for Bayern after scoring 61 goals in 51 appearances across all competitions last season.

Barcelona could also face competition if Kane becomes available. Saudi Pro League club Al Hilal are also showing interest in the striker.

For now, Kane’s Bayern negotiations remain central to his future. Meanwhile, Barcelona continue assessing the market as Atletico Madrid hold firm over their number one target, Julian Alvarez.
