Barcelona have already made significant changes to their attacking options during the summer transfer window.
Robert Lewandowski joined Chicago Fire, while Paris Saint-Germain signed Ferran Torres for a €50 million transfer fee.
The Catalan giants responded by adding Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi alongside their major midfield signing Rodri.
However, Barcelona still want another centre-forward after ending their pursuit of Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez.
The defending La Liga champions had pushed strongly for Alvarez, who also expressed his desire to join Barcelona.
However, Atletico remained unwilling to sell the Argentine to a domestic rival, forcing Barcelona to consider alternative options.
Hansi Flick’s side are preparing for another demanding campaign after winning consecutive La Liga titles last season.
Barcelona also reached the Champions League quarter-finals before Atletico Madrid ended their European campaign.
Therefore, sporting director Deco continues searching for another striker before the summer transfer window closes on September 1.
According to L’Equipe, Barcelona have shown interest in signing Monaco striker Folarin Balogun, who endured a controversial World Cup campaign.
The 25-year-old enjoyed an impressive campaign with Monaco last season, scoring 19 goals across 43 appearances in all competitions.
Balogun carried that form into the World Cup, scoring three goals in four appearances for the United States.
However, controversy surrounded him after he received a straight red card against Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Round of 32.
FIFA later suspended his automatic one-match ban for a probationary year following intervention involving Donald Trump and Gianni Infantino.
That decision allowed Balogun to feature against Belgium, although the United States suffered a 4-1 Round of 16 defeat.
Barcelona are not alone in pursuing Balogun, with Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa also showing interest this summer.
Tottenham have already held discussions with Monaco regarding a potential €60 million move for the United States international.
Monaco have Balogun under contract until June 2028 and expect a significant offer before considering his departure.
