Real Madrid have started the LaLiga 2025/26 campaign with wins in both their games. Under Xabi Alonso, they want to make sure they don’t go trophyless this season like the last one.

Under their last manager, Carlo Ancelotti, many players had important roles who have been cast aside by their new boss, Xabi Alonso.

The Spanish boss wants a new start, and the Club World Cup debacle made him think about keeping some of the older stars.

Luka Modric already left after his contract expired, and he has joined AC Milan. Now, another Real Madrid star, who was a captain in the past, has left the club to join Bayer Leverkusen.

And, the official club website has now made the signing of Lucas Vazquez official. The 5-time Champions League winner will now play under Erik ten Hag.

It is perhaps one of the biggest signings under Erik ten Hag. At the start of the window, Ten Hag lost the right-back who was exceptional under Xabi Alonso.

Jeremier Frimpong left for Liverpool, and Ten Hag needed a right-back. So, Bayer Leverkusen signed Lucas Vazquez as their new right-back. Before, Fabrizio Romano had already confirmed the signing.

Vazquez has represented Real Madrid in over 400 games. The Spaniard also won 4 LaLiga titles with the Los Blancos.

The 34-year-old had also scored 38 times and provided 73 assists during his time at Santiago Bernabeu.

Now, the BayArena will witness the former Real Madrid captain play as a right-back in Erik ten Hag’s system.
