To say it has been a turbulent summer at Bayer Leverkusen would be an understatement.

Firstly, Xabi Alonso departed after a two 1/2 years and a club legend who will go down in history.

He was replaced by Erik ten Hag, who had been out of work since leaving Manchester United last autumn.

Then, Jonathan Tah joined Bayern Munich for a six figure fee to play in the Club World Cup.

Soon after, Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong joined English Champions Liverpool.

Elsewhere, Granit Xhaka is on the brink of joining newly promoted side Sunderland.

It appears he will not be the last first team player to leave the club this summer.

According to reports out of France and elsewhere, Lukáš Hrádecký is close to joining Ligue 1 side Monaco.

Last week, the goalkeeper agreed personal terms with the French side, and a deal is at its final stages.

Alongside the aforementioned players, Hrádecký would be the fifth starter from the 23/24 side to have left the club.

Those five players made a combined 160 Bundesliga appearances as Leverkusen won the league unbeaten with 90 points.

That is an awful lot of experience and quality to lose.

They have made moves of their own in this window.

Mark Flekken, who will presumably be Hrádecký’s replacement, joined from Brentford.

Whilst Jarrell Quansah, who could replace Tah, came in from Liverpool.

Elsewhere, Malik Tillman from PSV will have the difficult task of replacing Wirtz.

With so many key players going, you feel that ten Hag’s side will need a few more incomings.

Perhaps we will see a few players that he linked up with at Ajax and United join the club.
