As Bayern Munich prepare for the German Super Cup final tomorrow, it has been a busy week off the field.
Long serving winger Kinglsey Coman has closed in a move to Saudi Arabia, whilst Thomas Muller completed his last ever training session.
Meanwhile, they have been trying to get more deals done themselves.
One player they have been after all summer is Nick Woltemade of tomorrow’s opponents VfB Stuttgart.
However, it appears as if that potential deal is now dead in the water.
According to Florian Plettenberg via iMiaSanMia a move is “almost off”, barring “nothing extraordinary” before deadline day.
He states that Stuttgart have closed the door and there was no movement today.
As a result, Bayern are now focused on Christopher Nkunku of Chelsea, who agreed personal terms back in January.
This feels like a big shame for Bayern. Having Woltemade would have massively improved them.
Not only could the 6’6 striker give Harry Kane rest when needed, but he could have played alongside him too.
Furthermore, he very well could have been the long term replacement for the England captain.
The first two points could apply to Nkunku as well, but he’s definitely not a long term option.
He is also very injury prone, and probably does not have the same quality as the German striker in 2025.
Sure, the above could all happen next summer. But it feels like they are going into this season underprepared.
It feels written that Woltemade would score against Bayern in the Super Cup final tomorrow.
Even worse if that goal leads to Stuttgart winning the final.
