Liverpool are already planning defensive reinforcements ahead of the summer window. The club know changes could be needed at the back.
Virgil van Dijk is not getting any younger. So, finding a long-term successor has become a priority. Also, Liverpool prefer to sign players before they reach superstar level.
That has been their strategy for years. The Reds did the same with Van Dijk. Also, Ibrahima Konate is not renewing his contract.
His contract will end at the end of the season. So, the Frenchman could leave the club for free with multiple clubs queuing up to sign him.
That is why Liverpool have been tracking several defenders across Europe. Some big names are on their shortlist.
However, one Premier League defender has now emerged as a serious option. According to TEAMtalk, Maxence Lacroix has become a key target for Liverpool.
Lacroix has impressed consistently this season. He has been a key part of Crystal Palace’s defensive setup.
Also, his performances have not gone unnoticed. Lacroix recently earned a call-up to the French national team.
That has only increased interest from top clubs. Several Premier League sides are now monitoring him closely.
Liverpool are among those interested. They see him as a more affordable alternative compared to other targets.
However, they are not alone in this race. Bayern Munich have now stepped up their efforts. They have already done significant groundwork on a potential deal.
Also, Vincent Kompany is believed to be a big admirer of the player. That could play a major role. From the Palace’s perspective, there is concern. They have already lost key players in recent windows.
In January, they sold Marc Guehi to Manchester City. So, they do not want another important departure. However, a big offer could change things.
For now, Bayern Munich are leading the race to sign him, with Liverpool also showing strong interest.
