Manchester City will be looking for midfield reinforcements next summer. However, they have suffered a massive blow in their pursuit of a Bayern Munich midfielder.

Rodri has been their mainstay in the midfield for many years now. Since joining the club from Atletico Madrid in 2029, he has emerged as one of the best midfielders in the world.

He also won the Ballon d’Or in 2024 because of his outstanding performances on the pitch both for Manchester City and Spain.

However, his contract will expire in 2027. So far, the Citizens have not agreed on a new deal with the Spaniard. But there is no doubt they would want to keep him at the club.

Still, Rodri has dropped a transfer bombshell which will potentially open the door for a move to Real Madrid if the Los Blancos act quickly.

So, if the Spaniard leaves for the Spanish capital next summer, the Citizens would need to find a suitable replacement.

There is no doubt that Manchester City are feeling the absence of Kevin De Bruyne. Thus, they cannot let that happen if Rodri leaves the club as well.

That is why City were eyeing a move for a Bayern Munich midfielder and were ready to pay a massive amount to secure his services.

However, it seems the midfielder has made it clear that he wants to stay with Bayern. According to an article from Bayern Spance on X, Aleksandar Pavlovic has rejected a move to Manchester City.

They are reporting that the Citizens were ready to pay a package of around €110 million (£95m) for the 21-year-old. They even held talks with his agents.

However, Pavlovic has made it clear that he wants to stay at Bayern. So, Manchester City will now look at other alternatives to replace Rodri if the Spaniard leaves next summer.
