Chelsea and Liverpool receive transfer boost as Bournemouth identify Alex Scott replacement

Alex Scott continues to attract attention as several major clubs monitor the England international.

The midfielder enjoyed a breakout 2025/26 campaign before carrying his impressive form into the current season.

Scott recently earned his first England start and impressed during the 7-0 Nations League victory over Croatia.

However, he suffered a serious quadriceps tendon injury during that match and could now spend six to eight weeks sidelined.

His injury comes amid continued uncertainty surrounding his long-term Bournemouth future. Scott has two years remaining on the five-year contract he signed after arriving from Bristol City in 2023.

Chelsea and Liverpool are among his leading admirers, while Real Madrid have also watched him several times.

Bournemouth remain determined to prevent a January departure, but their latest recruitment work could provide encouragement to Scott’s suitors.

According to TEAMtalk, Bournemouth are already considering potential replacements ahead of an expected Scott departure next summer.

Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Fer Lopez has emerged as one option after an impressive start to the Championship campaign.

Bournemouth previously wanted Lopez before he completed his move to Wolves. The midfielder has since registered five goals and two assists across eight starts this season.

His performances have increased interest in his services and could also raise the potential cost of a future transfer.

Bournemouth’s admiration therefore predates Lopez’s productive start at Wolves rather than emerging solely because of Scott’s situation.

The Cherries are also considering Lorient’s Arthur Avon and AZ Alkmaar midfielder Kees Smit as possible targets. Scott, meanwhile, remains highly sought after despite his recent injury setback.

Chelsea are currently leading the race for the 23-year-old, while Liverpool continue to hold significant interest. Bournemouth identifying potential successors does not guarantee Scott’s departure.

However, their preparations for a possible future without him could offer Chelsea and Liverpool further encouragement ahead of an anticipated transfer battle in 2027.
