Chelsea could return to the transfer market for another young attacker despite making major changes under Xabi Alonso.
The Blues spent heavily during the summer, with Morgan Rogers arriving from Aston Villa for a club-record £117 million.
Chelsea also added Emiliano Martinez, Maxence Lacroix and Marco Palestra. Danny Welbeck and Jordan Henderson provided experienced additions.
However, their early results have proved inconsistent. Chelsea sit 10th after suffering a 3-0 defeat against Brentford before the international break.
The club’s recruitment team is already monitoring potential future additions as Alonso continues reshaping his squad.
According to TEAMtalk, Chelsea are showing interest in Benfica winger Gianluca Prestianni.
The 20-year-old Argentine has emerged as one of the Primeira Liga’s most exciting young attackers.
Prestianni joined Benfica from Velez Sarsfield in 2024. Several Premier League recruitment departments had already tracked him in Argentina.
He established himself within Benfica’s senior squad last season and made more than 30 appearances across all competitions.
Prestianni has taken another significant step this campaign. He has six goals and three assists so far.
His creativity, pace and technical ability have encouraged English clubs to continue monitoring his development.
Chelsea face substantial competition for his signature. Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, Newcastle United and Brighton have also checked on Prestianni’s progress in recent months.
Arsenal also showed interest at one stage last summer. However, none of those clubs are currently preparing a formal approach.
Benfica are aware of the increasing Premier League interest and want to strengthen their position.
The Portuguese club plans talks over a new long-term contract for the twice-capped Argentina international.
Prestianni’s existing agreement runs until 2029 and contains a €100 million release clause.
His career has also included controversy. Prestianni received a six-match UEFA suspension following an incident involving Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior in February 2026.
The Argentine denied accusations of racism but admitted using an anti-gay slur during UEFA’s investigation.
For now, Chelsea remain at the monitoring stage rather than actively negotiating a transfer.
However, Prestianni’s continued development could turn that interest into a more concrete pursuit during a future transfer window.
