Como enjoyed the best season in the club’s history during the 2025-26 campaign.
Cesc Fabregas guided the Italian side to a fourth-place finish in Serie A and secured Champions League qualification for the first time.
The club have continued that momentum in the transfer market. Como have already invested heavily this summer as Fabregas strengthens his squad ahead of their first Champions League campaign.
Defence has become a major focus during the rebuild. Como have already moved for Yan Couto and continued searching for another centre-back to complete their backline.
Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah has now emerged as the club’s priority target. The England international made 47 appearances last season and also earned a late call-up to England’s 2026 FIFA World Cup squad.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Como have reached a verbal agreement with Chelsea to sign Trevoh Chalobah. The deal includes a €30 million fixed fee, €6 million in add-ons and a sell-on clause.
Romano adds that Chalobah has already chosen the move to Italy. The defender also wants the opportunity to play Champions League football under Fabregas.
Gianluca Di Marzio also reports that Chalobah will travel to Italy between Wednesday evening and Thursday morning to complete his medical.
Chelsea’s decision continues the club’s defensive overhaul under Xabi Alonso. Chalobah now looks set to leave Stamford Bridge after establishing himself as a regular starter last season.
Como have already enjoyed a productive pre-season while preparing for their historic European campaign.
Fabregas’ side finished third at the Como Cup before defeating Famalicao. They will now face Arsenal and Liverpool in two high-profile friendlies before opening their Serie A season against Udinese.
