Crystal Palace suffered a shock home defeat on Thursday in their UEFA Conference League group stage game against AEK Lamaca.

A 1-0 defeat at Selhurst Park means that they now have one win and one defeat in their group stage, with a win over Dynamo Kyiv on Matchday One.

Such a result should not distract Palace fans from what has been a solid start to the season, currently residing in eighth place in the Premier League table.

This includes a 97th minute winner from Eddie Nketiah to end Liverpool’s unbeaten start to the season, less than two months after beating them in the Community Shield via a penalty shootout.

With Adam Wharton repeatedly linked with a move away from the club, who have already seen Eberechi Eze depart for Arsenal and manager Oliver Glasner reveal Marc Guéhi will leave the club at the end of the season following the conclusion of his contract, they will be looking for player additions in January.

The club are still reeling from their FA Cup final triumph against Manchester City back in May, a 1-0 win at Wembley that secured the first trophy in the club’s history.

With the club in the best place they have ever been, they will be keen to make the most of it.

Whilst they will want to spend some of the £60 million (plus a potential additional £8 million in add ons) made from the Eze sale, they might be about to sign a prestigious young talent from one of the biggest clubs in Germany.

Crystal Palace keen on Borussia Dortmund star

According to reports, Palace are interested in signing Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jobe Bellingham on a loan deal.

Bellingham, 22, joined the Bundesliga giants in the summer for a fee of £25 million.

However, he has started just two games under manager Niko Kovač in a difficult spell for the brother of Real Madrid star Jude.

With tensions between Bellingham’s family and the club, this could pave the way for a potential early exit out of Bavaria for Dortmund.
