With more losses than wins so far this season, Darlington have not enjoyed a great start to their 2025/26 season.
Currently residing in 17th place in the National League North, Darlington have won just three of their 12 games so far, drawing four and losing five.
They face Southport FC this afternoon, who are currently 23rd in the National League North table.
Just five points separate Darlington and Southport so far this season, despite a gap of six between both sides in the table.
A win today in front of their own fans at Blackwell Meadows could see Darlington increase the gap to eight.
However, a loss could reduce the gap to two in what could be already in October be a game with big implications towards the end of season in the National League North.
Whilst just eight teams in the table have conceded less goals than Darlington this season, they have gone out and signed further help.
Darlington officially sign Leeds United goalkeeper
Leeds United have confirmed that their Academy goalkeeper Darryl Ombang bas joined Darlington on a youth loan.
Ombang has made appearances so far for Leeds in the Premier League 2, Vertu Trophy and Premier League International Cup for the Under 21’s.
This move ensures more experience will be placed under Ombang’s belt after he spent some time with Hartlepool United towards the end of last season.
The club have made a statement on the move on their official website as they set out their plans to keep tabs on him during the spell away from the team.
“Everyone at Leeds United would like to wish Darryl well during his time in County Durham and we will be monitoring his progress closely.”
