Atletico Madrid are still riding the wave of Diego Simeone’s era.
The Argentine coach continues to lead with passion, control, and intensity.
But even dynasties have to think ahead.
And at the Metropolitano, one former player is suddenly catching more and more attention.
In Brazil, a new coaching talent has been making waves.
At Flamengo, he has built a side that plays fast, fearless, and direct football.
His team stunned Chelsea in the Club World Cup group stages.
They pressed high, moved with precision, and played with a structure that had the London side completely out of rhythm.
Even Bayern Munich needed to go full throttle to escape the upset with a win over his side.
It was not just about individual talent; his team played like a system, not just a squad.
His rise on the bench has been quick. He reads the game like a veteran.
And, he gets the best out of players who are not global stars.
Also, he has brought together strong defending and attacking courage in equal measure.
Clubs in Europe have started to pay attention.
And in Spain, his name is starting to pop up again, but this time as a manager.
According to Fichajes, Atletico Madrid are keeping close tabs on Filipe Luis.
The former left-back knows the club inside out.
He understands the identity that Simeone created.
And he has now proven he can coach, too.
Also, Filipe Luis has the experience of handling high-pressure situations that European football demands.
He had successful stints as a player for not only Atletico Madrid but also Chelsea.
So, if a change ever comes, the Brazilian might just be the perfect fit to carry the torch forward.
Right now, Simeone stays. But the future might be closer than anyone thinks.
It will not be surprising to see Filipe Luis at the dugout in Metropolitano sooner rather than later.
