Fulham are preparing for a new era after finishing comfortably in mid-table during the 2025–26 Premier League campaign.
The Cottagers secured an 11th-place finish before making a major managerial change during the summer.
Marco Silva departed the club, with former Real Madrid coach Alvaro Arbeloa appointed as his replacement.
However, Arbeloa inherited a squad requiring significant work after several important players left Craven Cottage.
Raul Jimenez and Harry Wilson both departed on free transfers, while centre-back Issa Diop also completed a move away to Ipswich Town.
Therefore, strengthening the attack has become one of Fulham’s main priorities ahead of the new campaign.
The club have now turned towards Spain as Arbeloa looks to reunite with a player he previously worked with in Madrid.
According to The Athletic’s Mario Cortegana, Fulham are in talks to sign Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Garcia.
The 22-year-old could become Fulham’s first new external arrival of the summer if an agreement is completed.
Arbeloa is regarded as an important mentor to Garcia and is actively involved in discussions over the potential move.
The striker enjoyed a breakthrough campaign with Real Madrid last season, scoring eight goals across 39 appearances.
However, he started only nine La Liga matches as Kylian Mbappe remained the club’s first-choice striker.
Garcia has attracted interest from several European clubs, while Real Madrid had previously planned to allow him to leave this summer.
However, Jose Mourinho wanted to assess Garcia during pre-season before making a final decision regarding his future.
Although the Portuguese coach reportedly likes the striker, he cannot currently guarantee him a prominent role next season.
Therefore, Garcia now has an important decision to make regarding his future. For Fulham, completing the deal would provide Arbeloa with another attacking option after Jimenez’s departure.
