It has been a disappointing start to life back in the EFL for Ipswich Town this season.
They have just two points from their opening three games, and have just scored two goals.
That includes a fortunate penalty to draw away to Birmingham City, in a game they were second best in.
Furthermore, they were dumped out of the EFL Cup by League Two side Bromley.
This comes despite keeping the nucleus of their team from last season, and some exciting signings.
Well, it looks like they are about to make another signing – one with plenty of controversy.
As per John Percy, Ipswich are set to sign Marcelino Nunez from arch rivals Norwich City.
He reports that the deal is worth £10m total, including £2.5m in achievable bonuses.
The player has pushed for the move after rejecting two contract offers, and is a free agent next summer.
Losing a key player to your rivals will no doubt hurt those associated with Norwich.
That said, a £10m package for a player out of contract in 10 months is pretty hard to turn down.
Nunez is a Chilean international with plenty of experience, and featured at the Copa America last summer.
When on form, he can be unplayable, and is someone capable of chipping in with goals and assists from the middle of the park.
He will undoubtedly be a great addition for Kieran McKenna, as they look to fill the Sam Morsy void.
It will be very interesting to see the reception he gets (though no doubt hostile), in both derbies this season.
Especially at Carrow Road.
The first derby will be at Portman Road on the 5th of October. Then at Carrow Road on the 11th of April.
