Liverpool are already preparing for a future without Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian forward has been the heartbeat of Anfield for years. But his next step remains uncertain.
With that in mind, the Reds are planning for the day when they will need a new leader in attack.
Finding a player to replace Mohamed Salah who has been a world-class player for years is not an easy job.
It will be hard to find someone who can deliver at that level is a huge challenge. Arne Slot’s side has been linked with several young attackers across Europe, but only a few names truly stand out.
Transfer News Live has already reported that the Reds may pursue Michael Olise from Bayern Munich to replace Salah. However, Real Madrid are eyeing a move for the same player.
That is why they are looking at other options as well in case they miss out on Olise. One of those names is already making waves in France.
According to Fichajes, Liverpool are looking at Malick Fofana as a replacement for Mohamed Salah.
Last season, he scored 11 goals and provided 6 assists across 41 matches, numbers that put him on the radar of top clubs.
The 20-year-old Belgian winger joined Lyon in 2024 after leaving Gent and has quickly become a key figure in Ligue 1.
His versatility allows him to play on either wing or even through the middle, something that would fit Liverpool’s pressing system perfectly.
Fofana has already been on Liverpool’s shortlist. The club made an approach in the summer of 2025, but the winger chose to stay in Lyon to focus on development and playing time.
For Liverpool, the interest remains. With Salah’s future still in question, the Reds see Fofana as a natural successor who could lead their attack for the next decade.
