Liverpool are the most interested team to sign Alexander Isak. There is no doubt about it. After months of speculation, they have finally made a bid for the Swedish international.
The Reds placed a bid of around £120 million. However, Newcastle United rejected the bid in the first instance. Their stance is firm. Alexander Isak is not for sale.
However, the Swedish international wants the move. According to reports, he is training alone during the preseason.
The 25-year-old is training at Real Sociedad, his old club. Reports suggest he is doing this because he has an injury.
However, this could be a stand-off between Newcastle and Isak. The striker did not travel with the Newcastle squad for the preseason tour of Asia.
This is a clear sign that there is something going on between Newcastle United and Alexander Isak.
Liverpool wanted Isak to hand Newcastle a transfer request. Well, the Swedish international did not hand a transfer request.
Instead, he is showing his desire to leave by not training with the team. So, seeing the plan work, Liverpool were ready to place a huge bid for the 25-year-old.
The Reds thought that Newcastle would think twice before rejecting their £120 million offer for a player that wants to leave.
However, the Magpies didn’t wait to reject Liverpool’s offer. According to Fabrizio Romano, they are looking for a replacement of Isak.
Unless, they find a replacement, they will not sell the striker. Newcastle are eyeing a move for Benjamin Sesko who is also a target of Manchester United.
Now, given the stance Newcastle have taken, Liverpool have also take a transfer stance of their own seeing their bid rejected by Newcastle.
According to Ben Jacobs, Liverpool will not bid for Alexander Isak any more this season. Unless Newcastle change their stance, they will not be following up with another bid.
So, this Alexander Isak to Liverpool transfer saga drags on as Newcastle look to find a replacement.
🚨 Exclusive: Liverpool have no plans as it stands to bid again for Alexander Isak this window.
Nature of #NUFC’s rebuttal means Liverpool will NOT follow up with a second offer.
Regarded as futile unless Newcastle change their stance and contact Liverpool.
