Newcastle United had a memorable season last time. They won a trophy for the first time in 70 years.
Apart from that, they qualified for the Champions League by finishing 5th in the Premier League table.
One of the main reasons why Newcastle had such a great season was the form of Alexander Isak.
The Swedish international finished 2nd in the Premier League goal scorer’s list behind Mohamed Salah, who had a brilliant season helping Liverpool win their 20th Premier League title.
Even before the season ended, there were rumours about interest from various clubs across Europe for Alexander Isak.
Arsenal seemed the frontrunners to sign the Swedish international. However, Newcastle had made their stance clear; they will not sell Alexander Isak.
That is why they have also placed a price tag of £150 million for Alexander Isak. Well, that price tag helped Newcastle cool the interest from Arsenal.
The Gunners went on to sign Viktor Gyokeres. After that, there was interest from Liverpool who also approached Newcastle for Isak.
That is when the story turns because Isak has a dream of playing for Liverpool. He wants to leave. But, Newcastle are not ready to sell him.
Alexander Isak also rejected a crazy offer from Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal because he wants to stay in Europe. Now, the situation looks like a standoff between Isak and Newcastle.
Meanwhile, Newcastle know that Isak wants to leave. So, it looks like they are preparing ahead for his departure by targeting a player to replace him.
According to Florian Plettenberg from Sky Germany, Newcastle United are pushing a lot to sign Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig.
However, Newcastle face competition from Manchester United, who are also looking to add a striker after a disappointing last season in front of goal.
Yet, the German reporter has indicated that Newcastle are pushing for Sesko a lot.
So, if Newcastle United sign Benjamin Sesko, it will signal the departure of Alexander Isak clearly.
