Liverpool offer key star to Crystal Palace to sign Adam Wharton

Liverpool have made strengthening their midfield a priority after beginning a new era under Andoni Iraola.

The Reds have already reshaped several areas of the squad this summer and continue searching for reinforcements ahead of the new season.

Adam Wharton has emerged as one of Liverpool’s leading midfield targets.

Crystal Palace, however, remain determined to keep the England international after his impressive performances helped the club win the UEFA Conference League.

At the same time, Harvey Elliott faces an uncertain future at Anfield.

The 23-year-old has returned from his loan spell at Aston Villa, but Iraola still wants to assess him during pre-season before making a final decision on his future.

Liverpool are therefore exploring different ways to structure a potential deal.

The club hope an alternative proposal could make negotiations easier if talks progress during the transfer window.

According to Danny Gallagher, Liverpool are looking into the logistics of including Harvey Elliott in a deal for Adam Wharton.

The proposal would see Elliott move to Crystal Palace as part of an agreement for the England midfielder if all parties approve the move.

However, Gallagher adds that Iraola has not yet decided whether Elliott should leave the club.

The Liverpool head coach wants to run the rule over the attacking midfielder before approving any permanent exit.

If Iraola gives the green light after pre-season, discussions could move quickly.

Liverpool believe Elliott could play an important role in helping them reach an agreement with Crystal Palace.
