Last summer, Liverpool went big on the transfer market. The Reds spent around £450 million and broke the British transfer record twice. Now, they are already shaping their next summer plans.
Transfer News Live already reported that Liverpool are eyeing a sensational move for a Newcastle United star. However, there is another name they have added on their list of targets.
Arne Slot wants to add more firepower to his attack. There is no doubt that Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo have underperformed this season.
That is why Liverpool are eyeing a move for a Premier League star who has already made seven assists and scored ten goals for his club.
According to CaughtOffside, Liverpool have already made initial enquiries about a potential deal for Mogan Rogers.
The report also states that the Aston Villa star is open to considering his future in the summer. Now, Liverpool are not the only club trying to sign the player.
Chelsea are also in the race as they continue to monitor the situation closely. Competition will therefore be strong.
Meanwhile, Aston Villa are expected to demand close to £100 million for their asset.
The 23-year-old offers tactical flexibility, as he can operate as a number ten, drift wide, and press aggressively without the ball.
At Liverpool, the number ten role belongs to Florian Wirtz. Therefore, the left flank could become the natural landing spot.
Cody Gakpo has not replicated the impact Luis Diaz once provided before his departure. Liverpool never fully replaced that profile. So, Morgan Rogers could fill that gap.
But Liverpool likely need Champions League qualification to strengthen their case. Aston Villa are also competing for European places. Also, the Reds need reinforcements in defence.
Spending £100 million on a single signing would demand careful planning. The Reds have shown they can go big on players they think would improve their team.
For now, Morgan Rogers finds himself firmly on the radar of Liverpool as a potential marquee arrival for next summer.
