Bradley Barcola has become Liverpool’s leading attacking target this summer following Mohamed Salah’s departure. The Reds have tracked the Paris Saint-Germain winger for some time.
Now, they are ready to make their move as Andoni Iraola looks to strengthen his frontline before the new season. However, Liverpool know the deal will not come cheaply.
Paris Saint-Germain value the France international at £145 million and remain reluctant to lose one of their brightest young attackers.
Liverpool, though, believe there is room to negotiate despite the French club’s firm stance.
According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool are preparing to submit their opening offer for Bradley Barcola after holding talks with his representatives last week.
The report adds that Barcola is keen on the move. He has also indicated that he does not want to sign a new contract with Paris Saint-Germain despite having two years remaining on his current deal.
Liverpool do not intend to match PSG’s £145 million valuation. Instead, they hope both clubs can reach a compromise during negotiations.
The report also notes that Liverpool valued Barcola at around £75 million when they first approached his representatives last summer.
The 23-year-old has remained a priority even while Liverpool explored a move for Yan Diomande. The report states the Reds saw an £85 million offer rejected before renewing their focus on Barcola.
Liverpool believe Barcola has the pace, directness and attacking quality to suit Iraola’s system.
Arsenal and Bayern Munich also retain an interest, while Chelsea made enquiries earlier in the transfer window.
Liverpool have now reached the next stage of their pursuit. The focus will shift to whether Paris Saint-Germain soften their demands once the opening bid arrives.
