Liverpool have had a very busy transfer window, and Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi could be next to join.
It has been an unprecedented transfer window given Liverpool’s usual reluctance to spend.
Right-back Jeremie Frimpong has arrived as Trent Alexander-Arnold’s replacement, for a fee of £29.5 million.
The long awaited announcement was made earlier this week for the signing of Florian Wirtz.
Signing for a club record £100 million, this fee could rise to £116 million after performance related add ons.
They are not stopping there.
A £40 million bid has been accepted by Bournemouth for left-back Milos Kerkez.
It has now been reported that Liverpool are looking to capitalise on Palace captain Marc Guehi’s contract situation.
Just a month on from lifting the FA Cup, Guehi appears to be a major target for Liverpool.
Captain Virgil van Dijk signed a two-year extension earlier this year.
However, fellow centre-back Ibrahima Konaté only has a year left on his contract.
Real Madrid are being linked with a move for the French international.
With Los Blancos’ history of signing players with contracts running down, as recently as the aforementioned Alexander-Arnold, this would not be a major shock if Konaté was to sport the white of Madrid in a year’s time.
The signing of Guehi could signal that they are already planning for life without Konaté.
Liverpool transfer plans for Marc Guehi revealed
Liverpool look set to see 22-year old centre-back Jarrell Quansah leave for Leverkusen.
The transfer looks all but done, with a £30 million transfer plus £5 million in add-ons.
Should the transfer be confirmed, it has been reported that Liverpool will ramp up their interest in Guehi.
An asking price of £40-45 million is said to be asked by the Palace board, but the 12 months left on his contract could alter that fee.
With 1.29 shot creating actions, 1.62 blocks and 0.35 successful take ons per 90 along with plenty of Premier League experience, he would find it easier to settle into life on Merseyside.
A jump up in expectations could be the one thing that hinders his time at the club.
Liverpool look to be building for the future, with Kerkez, Frimpong, Wirtz and Guehi all under the age of 24.
Having now won their second Premier League title, Liverpool are defining the term “strengthening when on top”.
If the Alexander Isak rumours are true, this could set rivals fans into meltdown.
