Manchester City are making major adjustments to their squad ahead of the 2026-27 campaign under new head coach Enzo Maresca.
City have already strengthened their midfield by signing Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest for a reported £116 million.
They are also finalising terms with Lille for highly rated youngster Ayyoub Bouaddi. Meanwhile, Bernardo Silva joined Real Madrid, while John Stones completed a move to Inter Milan.
James Trafford also left the club for Leeds United during the summer window. Further changes could now follow in midfield as Maresca continues reshaping his options ahead of the new campaign.
City are also dealing with Barcelona’s interest in Rodri, while Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez remains a potential arrival.
Chelsea value the Argentine at £120 million, although City believe they could agree a lower fee. Meanwhile, one City midfielder has agreed to a move to Saudi Pro League.
According to TEAMtalk, Manchester City midfielder Tijjani Reijnders has agreed to join Saudi Pro League club Al-Qadsiah this summer.
The Netherlands international joined City from AC Milan last summer after the Premier League club paid £46.5 million.
Reijnders started strongly at the Etihad before his form declined as the campaign progressed. He eventually became more of a squad option under Pep Guardiola.
Maresca has since informed sporting director Hugo Viana that he wants to upgrade City’s midfield options. Reijnders was not considered central to those plans.
Nottingham Forest had also pushed to sign the Dutch international and offered him the opportunity to remain in England.
Galatasaray held talks as well, while Juventus showed interest in bringing him back to Serie A.
However, Reijnders has chosen Al-Qadsiah and is expected to continue his career under former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers.
Al-Qadsiah are now in advanced negotiations with Manchester City, with the clubs close to finalising an agreement worth just over £50 million.
