It has been a mixed transfer window for Bayern Munich so far.
Tom Bischof, Jonathan Tah, and Luis Diaz have joined the club.
But Thomas Muller, Leroy Sane, and Kingsley Coman have left the club.
Whilst Jamal Musiala picked up an injury at the Club World Cup that will likely sideline him until the new year.
Alphonso Davies is not expected back until late 2025, and Bayern have not signed a player in his position either.
Despite only Diaz costing a (more than minimal) transfer fee, and the sale of Coman, there has been no other money spent.
That is not going to change, according to sporting director Max Eberl.
Before the Bundesliga curtain opener against Leipzig, Eberl addressed the transfer window.
During the interview, he admitted they were looking for a loan player.
“We’ve been able to sell many players and bring in three players.
Jona [Tah], Tom Bischof, and Lucho [Diaz].
And now we want to do something else, and the task is to do it through a loan.”
Interestingly, he uses a singular tense there. “a loan”, not “loans”.
Bayern fans will be very angry if the only piece of business they do from here on out is one singular loan.
Perhaps that will be enough for them domestically, but that won’t be enough in the Champions League.
Die Roten have only won the Champions League one since 2013, and not since 2020.
They missed out on the opportunity to play the final at home last season, having been knocked out in the quarter-finals.
It would be a shame if they do not make the necessary signing towards the end of this window.
Albeit, they could see how things are going by January, and reassess in that transfer window.
Max Eberl [before the game]: “Bayern have always been careful about their finances. Bayern are a club that operate without an investor and want to make money through transfers. We have to accept that. We’ve had a very good transfer window so far. We’ve been able to sell many… pic.twitter.com/qhAR3kE5i8
