Newcastle United were hoping to land Benjamin Sesko as the replacement for the wantaway Alexander Isak.
The Swedish international has not trained with the Newcastle squad. Initially, there were reports that Isak was suffering from an injury.
However, currently, the Swede is training alone and will sit down with Eddie Howe to discuss his future.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are ready to submit their second bid. However, the Reds are looking for some encouragement from Newcastle.
When Liverpool submitted the first bid, they were dealt with outright rejection. The Reds want to avoid such a situation. That is why they are waiting to see how things move on.
In fact, the situation with Alexander Isak is perfectly aligning with the plan Liverpool had to seal the deal for the Swedish as revealed by Transfer News Live earlier.
Newcastle United always maintained a firm stance on this transfer. The Magpies are still reluctant to sell Isak.
According to Ben Jacobs, Newcastle have made a decision on the future of Alexander Isak. They are looking to extend his contract.
But, if Isak does not renew his contract, then the Newcastle board will sanction his sale as they will get a British-record transfer fee from Liverpool.
However, Eddie Howe and the Newcastle board will do everything they can to convince the striker to sign a new deal.
Alexander Isak’s current contract with Newcastle United will expire in 2028. However, the Magpies are willing to give him a better contract.
If Isak signs the new deal, he could become the best earner on this team. Otherwise, the Magpies are now ready to sell the player.
Understand Newcastle’s failure to sign Benjamin Sesko does not affect the Alexander Isak situation.
Newcastle have other attackers in mind.
And #NUFC‘s feeling remains Isak must be sold or extend with no middle ground. Isak has to date shown no willingness to do latter.… pic.twitter.com/v9JTcZOMUJ
