Alexander Isak has let Newcastle United know he wants to leave.
After a stunning breakout season, the Swedish striker believes now is the right time to begin a new chapter. His form was electric.
In 42 appearances across all competitions, he scored 27 goals and provided 6 assists. That included 23 goals in the Premier League alone.
These numbers put him among Europe’s best. And those numbers have caught the eye of one of England’s biggest clubs and the current Premier League champions.
Liverpool are ready to test Newcastle’s resolve. According to The Mirror, the Anfield side is considering a British record offer of £120 million.
They believe Isak could become the face of their new attacking era. Isak did not travel with the Newcastle squad for their pre-season tour of the Far East.
Officially, he is sidelined with an injury. Behind the scenes, though, his absence has created tension and confusion in the camp.
Some teammates were not ready for his. Others believe his mind may already be elsewhere.
Despite all this, Newcastle’s position remains unchanged. The message is simple: Isak is not for sale.
That is the line coming from club officials. But it may not be their call for much longer.
The final say lies with Yasir Al-Rumayyan and the Public Investment Fund (PIF), Newcastle’s Saudi owners.
For them, Isak is no longer just a striker. He is now a strategic asset.
And while they are yet to give the green light to any sale, their involvement suggests something bigger is unfolding. Only time will tell if Liverpool’s interest becomes official.
But if they do put £120 million on the table, and Isak continues to push for an exit, Newcastle’s not for sale stance could soon be put to the ultimate test.
