Newcastle United plan hijack move to steal key target away from Everton

That situation has now opened the door for Newcastle to potentially hijack the move.

Newcastle United continue searching for attacking reinforcements after losing one of their biggest stars earlier this summer.

However, Eddie Howe now appears ready to target another young Premier League talent. The Magpies are preparing for a major rebuild ahead of the new season.

Newcastle already raised significant funds after completing Anthony Gordon’s £70M move to Barcelona.

Therefore, strengthening wide areas has quickly become one of the club’s biggest priorities during the current transfer window.

Eddie Howe is also looking to add younger attacking players capable of developing into long-term starters at St James’ Park. Several names have already appeared on Newcastle’s shortlist.

Abde Ezzalzouli remains under consideration, while the club also opened talks for Said El Mala after the youngster rejected a move to Brentford.

However, another Premier League winger has now emerged as a serious option. According to TEAMtalk, Newcastle United are closely monitoring Chelsea winger Tyrique George ahead of a possible summer move.

The 20-year-old spent the second half of the 2025-26 season on loan at Everton after struggling for regular opportunities at Stamford Bridge.

George failed to establish himself fully at Everton and made only one start during his spell at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Despite that, Everton still hold a £22M buy option inside the agreement with Chelsea. The option remains active until the end of the month.

However, Everton are reportedly trying to negotiate a lower fee instead of activating the clause immediately.

That situation has now opened the door for Newcastle to potentially hijack the move.

George previously impressed during appearances for Chelsea in the Conference League and domestic cup competitions during the 2024-25 campaign.
