Last season, Nottingham Forest had their most successful season in over 30 years.
Despite being tipped by most people for relegation, they managed to finish in a European spot.
That said, they were in the Champions League spots for most of the season, before tailing off towards the end.
Their end of season form resulted in ‘just’ a Conference League, after two wins in their last eight games.
However, Crystal Palace were demoted from the Europa League to Conference League.
Which means that Forest will be playing in the Europa League next season.
Many attributed their decline towards the end of the season due to their squad depth, or lack there of.
With European football to contend with this season, it is clear they needed to add more pieces.
So far, they have signed Arnaud Kalimuendo, Omari Hutchinson, James McAtee, Angus Gunn, and Dan Ndoye.
As well as those players, they had previously signed Brazilians Jair Cunha and Igor Jesus.
Well, it looks as if a compatriot is set to join them in the East Midlands.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Forest are set to sign Douglas Luiz from Juventus.
Their had been reported interest in the player for a while, and it looks as if they have got their man.
As well as Cunha and Jesus, Luiz will be joining Carlos Miguel, Morato, and another fellow Brazil international Murillo.
Quite the Brazilian contingent over in Nottingham.
Although things didn’t quite work out in Serie A, Luiz was absolutely brilliant during his time at Aston Villa.
He will be able to slot in right next to the ever impressive Elliot Anderson in the double pivot.
A midfield of those two with Morgan Gibbs-White just in front is pretty purring.
With signings like this, and being able to keep Gibbs-White at the club, things are on the up for Forest.
Albeit against a poorly equipped Brentford side, they showed no signs of being a one-season-wonder at the weekend.
Chris Wood’s brace put him onto 91 Premier League goals in his career.
Despite turning 34 in December, he is showing no signs of slowing down at all.
He will be hoping to get into the 100 club this season, before taking part in his second World Cup – 16 years after his first.
