Manchester City started the transfer window off in a resounding way. Before the Club World Cup, they are quick to sign the links of Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Cherki, and Rayan Ait-Nouri.
However, after the global tournament, the Citizens only signed the goalkeeper, James Trafford, and the 18-year-old, Sverre Nypan.
In terms of the City’s standards, they are having a relatively quiet transfer window.
Now, Pep Guardiola is also looking at outgoings. Kyle Walker has joined Burnley, and Kevin De Bruyne left as a free agent.
Also, after the signing of James Trafford, one of Stefan Ortega and Ederson is expected to leave the club, with the former being the most likely.
However, there is another young Manchester City player who could be leaving the club this summer, and his name is James McAtee.
According to Fabrizio Romano, McAtee is close to joining Nottingham Forest this summer. Both Frest and City are negotiating for the English midfielder.
The fee they are expected to agree on should be around £20 million. James McAtee wants to have more game time, which he can get at Forest.
Last season, McAtee played 27 games for the Citizens in all competitions. The midfielder scored 7 goals and provided 4 assists in those games.
McAtee’s numbers have impressed Nuno Espirito Santo, and the Portuguese boss wants the midfielder at the City Ground.
With his contract expiring next year, signing James McAtee could be a smart decision for Forest because he certainly has the capability of becoming the next Cole Palmer.
