It has been an interesting start to the season for Nottingham Forest.
On the pitch, things have looked pretty good so far.
A 3-1 win at home to Brentford was followed up with a solid 1-1 draw away to Crystal Palace.
New signing Dan Ndoye has scored or assisted in both games, whilst fellow recruit Igor Jesus looked bright vs Palace.
However, off the pitch, there has been plenty of noise.
Nuno has been outspoken in his frustration at a lack of transfer business in the last few weeks.
He has also admitted that his relationship with owner Evangelos Marinakis has deteriorated.
It should be said that a lot of Nuno’s frustrations came before the signings of England U21 duo James McAtee and Omari Hutchinson.
However, it has been said that he wants back up full backs, as they are extremely thin in that area.
Well, it looks like the club are trying to do that.
According to Sportitalia, Forest have made a bid worth 12 million Euros for Juventus defender Nicolo Savona.
The 22-year old has played all across the back line in Italy, which is perfect for a player providing squad depth.
In other areas of the pitch, Forest’s depth has seriously improved.
During the draw at Palace, they brought on Jesus, Hutchinson, McAtee, and Arnaud Kalimuendo – all new signings.
Whilst Douglas Luiz – who also came from Juventus – was an unused sub.
With Forest set to play in the Europa League this season, a strong bench is very much needed.
The key now is to add similar depth in the full-back areas that they have in other positions.
Last season, the first choice pairing was Ola Aina and Neco Williams, whilst Alex Moreno provided depth.
However, Moreno has since gone back to parent club Aston Villa, and has not been replaced.
So reinforcements are clearly needed, even more so than before.
This would be a very smart addition.
