Relations between PSG and Real Madrid have remained strained ever since the Kylian Mbappe saga. So, any transfer speculation involving players from both clubs will draw attention.
The Los Blancos continue searching for midfield reinforcements as Jose Mourinho prepares for his first season in charge.
The Spanish giants are assessing several options to solve issues in the middle of the pitch. They are looking at the likes of Rodri and Enzo Fernandez.
However, one Portuguese international has now emerged as a serious candidate.
According to A Bola (via El Nacional), PSG midfielder Joao Neves has asked his agent Jorge Mendes to offer him to Real Madrid because he wants to join the Spanish giants.
The 21-year-old remains an important figure under Luis Enrique and continues playing a major role for the team.
However, Neves has already won every available trophy with PSG and reportedly wants to test himself in a more demanding environment.
Also, Ruben Neves would welcome the opportunity to work under fellow Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho and become part of Real Madrid’s new project.
Real Madrid have reportedly already initiated contact with Jorge Mendes and the player’s family regarding the situation.
Meanwhile, Mourinho also reportedly approves of the move and believes Neves would be an excellent addition to the squad.
The developments have reportedly disappointed PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi and manager Luis Enrique.
However, PSG are not believed to be overly concerned about losing the midfielder despite the growing speculation.
The French club remain calm because Joao Neves still has a long-term contract at the Parc des Princes, and PSG have no intention of selling unless they choose to do so.
That position could make negotiations extremely difficult for Real Madrid. Neves is currently viewed as one of the most promising midfielders in European football.
For now, PSG remain in a strong position despite Real Madrid’s growing interest in the Portuguese midfielder.
