Real Madrid have made a solid start to their 2025/26 campaign. Currently, they are at the top of the La Liga table and have won both their Champions League games so far.

However, the debacle in the hands of Atletico Madrid pointed out that everything is not merry at Santiago Bernabeu.

A top team can easily exploit the midfield of the Los Blancos. That is why it is extremely important to do something in the January window.

The Merengues want to win all the trophies they are playing for. For that, squad depth will be a key factor. So, they need to find a good midfielder who can integrate well with the current group.

Xabi Alonso already has some of the best midfielders at his disposal. The likes of Jude Bellingham, Eduardo Camavinga, and Aurelien Tchouameni are some of the best in Europe.

However, Real Madrid want more quality in the midfield. That is why they have set their sights on a Chelsea player.

The Spanish giants saw what Chelsea did to PSG in the Club World Cup final. PSG are the same team that decimated Madrid in the same tournament.

And Cole Palmer was fantastic in that final. However, there was one player who caught the eyes of the Real Madrid hierarchy. And now, they are exploring a move for the player.

According to Fichajes, Xabi Alonso is demanding that Real Madrid sign Enzo Fernandez from Chelsea. Alonso believes that Enzo could be the missing piece in his midfield.

Enzo joined Chelsea in January 2023 for £106.7 million. He remains under contract until 2032.

Still, Chelsea might listen to offers around £100 million. But they won’t consider anything below that amount.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid are not alone in this race. Liverpool, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur have also shown interest. The competition will not make things easy for Real Madrid.
