Ruben Amorim agrees to join AC Milan as new manager

Ruben Amorim has reached an agreement to become the next AC Milan manager.

Ruben Amorim is closing in on a return to management. The Portuguese coach has been out of work since his departure from Manchester United in January.

Following his exit from Old Trafford, Amorim was expected to take time away from the game before considering his next move.

However, one of Europe’s biggest clubs have now convinced him to return much sooner than expected. AC Milan are preparing for major changes ahead of the new season.

The Italian giants have endured two disappointing campaigns without Champions League qualification and are now looking to rebuild.

As part of that process, the club have identified a new manager to lead the project forward.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Ruben Amorim has reached an agreement to become the next AC Milan manager. The 41-year-old is expected to replace Massimiliano Allegri at San Siro.

Reports claim Amorim has agreed a contract until 2028, with the deal also containing an option for a further year.

The former Manchester United boss is set to earn €3.5M per season, with additional bonuses linked to trophies and Champions League qualification.

Only final approval from club owner Gerry Cardinale remains before the move becomes official. Once that approval arrives, Amorim is expected to travel to Milan and complete the formalities.

With a new manager close to arriving, Milan hope Amorim can help guide the club back towards the top of Italian football.
