Serie A giants set to sign Alejandro Garnacho

Garnacho was left out of Argentina’s final squad for the FIFA World Cup.

Chelsea are preparing for another major rebuild after appointing Xabi Alonso as their new head coach.

The Blues have already strengthened the squad by signing Marco Palestra and Geovany Quenda. Also, Marc Cucurella has departed for Real Madrid.

However, further changes could take place before the transfer window closes.

Alejandro Garnacho also faces an uncertain future at Stamford Bridge after an underwhelming first season following his move from Manchester United.

The Argentine winger struggled to establish himself in the Premier League. He scored just one goal from 14 league starts for Chelsea.

As a result, he was left out of Argentina’s final squad for the FIFA World Cup. His situation has now attracted interest from Italy.

According to Alfredo Pedulla, AS Roma have made enquiries over a move for Garnacho as they search for two new wide attackers this summer.

The report states that the Serie A club are currently exploring a loan deal for the 21-year-old. They perceive Garnacho as a player capable of strengthening the left flank.

Pedulla adds that Roma are also pursuing a right-sided winger. And Alejandro Garnacho is featuring prominently among the club’s preferred options.

The winger joined Chelsea last summer in a deal worth just over £4o million but endured a difficult campaign as he struggled for regular consistency.

Roma’s initial approach is understood to be for a loan move, although it remains to be seen whether Chelsea will entertain that proposal.

For now, Xabi Alonso continues assessing his squad before the 2026–27 campaign begins.
