Tottenham Hotspur ended a 17-year trophy drought in 2025, beating Manchester United 1-0 in the Europa League final.
This was not enough to keep manager Ange Postecoglou in the role.
He was sacked and replaced by former Brentford manager Thomas Frank.
The Dane arrives in North London after a brilliant spell in West London.
He guided the Bees to the Premier League in 2021.
This secured their first season of topflight football in 74 years, beating Swansea City 1-0 in the playoff final.
In the four seasons that followed, they were been a secure team in the Premier League, with two finishes in the top 10.
Frank will look to put his stamp on the team, with Mathys Tel making his loan spell permanent for £30 million and Kevin Danso arriving from Lens for a fee of £21 million.
Prior to Frank’s arrival, Pierre-Emile Højbjerg departed for Marseille for an undisclosed fee, also making his loan move permanent.
Tottenham will need more reinforcements with UEFA Champions League football and a Super Cup final to look forward to in their upcoming season.
Now, one of their medal winners from the final in Bilbao could be about to move to America.
Tottenham Hotspur forward open to MLS move
It has been reported that German international Timo Werner is open to a move to the MLS.
Werner spent last season on loan with Tottenham, two years on from leaving Chelsea in favour of a return to RB Leipzig.
It has become apparent that Werner is not in Frank’s plans, with no return to the club in sight.
The New York Red Bulls have been touted as the 2021 Champions League winner’s next destination.
He would join a long list of ex-Premier League players to join the club.
Thierry Henry, Juan Pablo Ángel, Tim Cahill and Youri Djorkaeff all made the move to America after successful spells in England.
Whilst Werner’s time in England was not a success, he can gain inspiration from Bradley Wright-Phillips.
Son of Ian Wright, he failed to take England by storm.
Starting his career at Manchester City, he also played for Southampton, Plymouth Argyle, Charlton Athletic and Brentford.
However, it was when he moved to the States when his career accelerated to new heights.
To date, Wright-Phillips is the Red Bulls’ all-time top scorer, with 126 goals in all competitions.
Only six players have scored more MLS goals in the league’s history.
At the age of 29 and known for his hard work, a move to New York could see Werner end his career on a high.
