Tottenham Hotspur ready to rival Barcelona for Premier League free agent

Both Tottenham and Barcelona need to act fast. Many European heavyweights are tracking him.

Igor Tudor, Hansi Flick

Major changes could take place at Tottenham Hotspur next summer. First of all, they need to find a permanent manager.

They have appointed Igor Tudor as their interim manager after sacking Thomas Frank. Only after appointing a permanent boss will they be looking to sign new players.

However, they are already scouting the market to find suitable players. And the Spurs will be on the market for a new defender.

Cristian Romero seems to have fallen out with the club after publicly criticising the management. Also, Micky van de Ven has become a target for Liverpool next summer.

Furthermore, Radu Dragusin is not happy with his game time at the club. So, he could leave as well. If all three leave the club next summer, the Spurs will be in a precarious situation.

That is why they might look to add at least one defender on a free transfer. Now, Barcelona are also trying to do something like that.

The Catalan giants are struggling financially. However, they need to find a centre-back next summer. They admire Nico Schlotterbeck of Borussia Dortmund.

But the German club’s asking price might prove to be a hurdle for the Blaugrana. That is why they are also aiming for a free transfer. And, they are eyeing a move for a Premier League defender.

According to MARCA, both Tottenham Hotspur and Barcelona have shown interest in signing Marcos Senesi from AFC Bournemouth.

The Argentine will become a free agent in June. And he has not renewed his contract yet. Many European heavyweights are tracking him.

Therefore, both Tottenham and Barcelona need to act fast. Deco is still scouting the market, and if he feels Senesi is the one, then he would make a move next summer.
