After narrowly avoiding relegation last season, Tottenham Hotspur have invested heavily during the summer transfer window to rebuild the squad.
Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, Jan Paul van Hecke, Andrew Robertson and Marcos Senesi have all arrived in North London. However, Tottenham’s transfer plans have suffered a major setback.
The club had been pushing to sign Eli Junior Kroupi before the youngster sustained a broken foot. That injury has forced Spurs to look at alternative attacking targets ahead of the new season.
Several names are now under consideration. Tottenham remain determined to add another forward before the transfer window closes.
De Zerbi wants greater competition across the front line as Spurs prepare for the new campaign.
According to TEAMtalk, Tottenham Hotspur are now weighing up a move for Barcelona forward Ferran Torres following Kroupi’s injury.
The Spain international has emerged as one of the club’s most ambitious attacking targets. Torres could become available if he fails to agree a new contract with Barcelona.
Spurs have reportedly already held discussions with intermediaries over the 26-year-old’s situation. Paris Saint-Germain are currently leading the race for his signature.
However, Tottenham continue to monitor developments in case an opportunity presents itself later in the transfer window. Spurs are also considering other attacking options. Hoffenheim striker Fisnik Asllani remains on Tottenham’s shortlist.
However, RB Leipzig are pushing to sign Asllani while Barcelona are monitoring the forward as a possible alternative to Julian Alvarez. Club Brugge attacker Nicolo Tresoldi is another player Tottenham admire.
The Germany Under-21 international is attracting interest from AS Roma and Borussia Dortmund, while Barcelona have also been linked with him.
Even so, Torres is viewed as the most complete option as his experience with Barcelona, Manchester City and Spain could prove valuable for De Zerbi.
