Tottenham Hotspur are preparing for another important season under Roberto De Zerbi after narrowly avoiding relegation for the second consecutive campaign.
The Lilywhites finished 17th in the Premier League again last season before De Zerbi arrived in March following the dismissal of Igor Tudor.
The Italian quickly improved performances and helped guide the club away from the threat of Championship football. Now, attention has shifted towards the new season.
Tottenham will begin their 2026-27 Premier League campaign with a London derby against Brentford before facing Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest in their opening fixtures.
At the same time, De Zerbi and the club’s recruitment team are working to strengthen the squad. Midfield has emerged as one of Tottenham’s priorities following the departure of Yves Bissouma.
The North London club want to add quality and depth in the centre of the pitch as De Zerbi continues to reshape the squad.
That search has led Spurs towards one of the most highly-rated young midfielders in England.
According to TEAMtalk, Tottenham have entered the race to sign Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton.
The report states that Liverpool and Manchester United are also interested in the England international. The Reds already held talks with the player’s representatives.
Tottenham are now ready to push for the midfielder as they look to win the battle for his signature.
Wharton has established himself as a key figure for Crystal Palace since joining the club from Blackburn Rovers in 2024.
Since arriving at Selhurst Park, he has made 96 appearances across all competitions for the Eagles.
Meanwhile, Tottenham are also assessing other midfield options. They are now looking at Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali as well.
However, Wharton has now emerged as one of the club’s primary targets as De Zerbi looks to strengthen his midfield before the new campaign begins.
