Troy Parrott is suddenly one of the most wanted strikers in Europe, and Premier League clubs are lining up to bring him back.
Parrott joined the Tottenham Hotspur youth academy in 2017 and signed his first professional contract in 2019.
The Irishman made his only Premier League appearance for the Spurs in a game against Burnley in 2019. He also appeared in an EFL Cup game against Colchester United in the same year.
However, Parrott spent most of his time with the Spurs on loan to various clubs, including Millwall, Ipswich Town, Milton Keynes Dons, Preston North End, and Excelsior.
After his successful loan spell at Excelsior in the Eredivisie, Tottenham sold Parrott to AZ Alkmaar for £6.7 million in July 2024.
Now, according to Alex Crook from talkSPORT, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leeds United both want the Republic of Ireland star.
Recently, he exploded on the international stage during the European qualifiers for the World Cup with five goals in two games.
He scored twice against Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal and then hit a hat-trick against Hungary to push Ireland into the World Cup play-offs.
Wolves looked at him last summer but refused to meet AZ Alkmaar’s £20 million-plus price. New manager Rob Edwards has strong links to Parrott’s agency, and that connection could help.
Leeds also rate him highly, and Daniel Farke wants a proven goalscorer to lift the club out of trouble. Parrott’s form in the Eredivisie has been outstanding.
The Irishman has 14 goals and two assists in 15 games this season. His numbers from last year show similar consistency, and his confidence is higher than ever.
Leeds need someone with his energy and finishing, especially after scoring only 11 goals in 12 league matches.
Wolves want him too and plan to return with the same £20 million offer they avoided last year.
Parrott has Premier League experience from his Tottenham days, and a return now feels more realistic than ever.
