The Finalissima 2026 venue has finally been decided. Previously, Transfer News Live reported that the host nation for the Finalissima would be changed.
Now, an update has come regarding the venue of the final, and that has raised controversy. The 2026 Finalissima will be played between Argentina and Spain.
The Albiceleste qualified for the match after winning the Copa America in 2024. In the same year, Spain won the EURO by defeating England in the final.
The match was initially planned to be played in Lusail Stadium in Qatar. But due to the geopolitical unrest in the region, the venue for the game needed to be changed.
Transfer News Live earlier reported on X that the game between Spain and Argentina will now be played at Santiago Bernabeu.
And after that, a major controversy has arisen. If the game is played at Santiago Bernabeu, then it will give home advantage to Spain.
According to AlbicelesteTalk on X, the Argentine Football Association has officially rejected the option of playing at Santiago Bernabeu.
They don’t want to play in Madrid. Instead, they are requesting to explore all possible options. The AFA want to play the match at a neutral venue.
CONMEBOL has also supported the AFA’s stance. Now, the final decision must be taken by Thursday due to logistical reasons.
However, even after the AFA’s disapproval, the game might be played at Santiago Bernabeu.
