Fabrizio Romano has revealed Manchester United’s current stance on offering a new contract to Casemiro after the Brazilian announced his departure earlier.
The Brazilian has been instrumental in the success of the Red Devils under Michael Carrick. And the current interim manager sees Casemiro as a key figure at United.
Now, the 34-year-old has already announced at the start of the year that he will leave Manchester United once his contract at the club expires in June.
However, the Brazilian has been performing amazingly for the Red Devils. He also opened the scoring for them in their 3-1 win over Aston Villa at Old Trafford.
Since then, people have been speculating that Manchester United might offer a new contract to Casemiro, and the Brazilian could make a U-turn on his past decision to leave the club.
While speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano revealed the actual stance of Manchester United regarding the situation surrounding Casemiro. Romano said:
“The answer from Manchester United today is that nothing has changed so far.”
Now, Romano has also covered his back by saying that he cannot predict the future and that anything is possible. He said:
“As of today, my job is to tell you what’s happening today and as of today, Man Utd’s message is not about new negotiations with Casemiro.”
“He’s on a big contract with very big salary. The age is a factor. Man Utd are delighted with Casemiro who is doing fantastic. For Michael Carrick, he’s a crucial player.”
So, it seems United have not opened any discussions on renewing Casemiro’s contract, as of now.
