Newcastle United star Bruno Guimaraes has become a target for multiple clubs next summer. However, it seems Manchester United are currently the favourite to sign the midfielder.

Now, the Newcastle captain has been among their best players for the last few years and has become a fan favourite.

However, the Magpies will not qualify for the Champions League next season. That is why multiple Newcastle players could leave next summer.

But losing Guimaraes will surely hurt them the most. That is why Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe has now spoken about rumours of Bruno Guimaraes to Manchester United. He said (via The Sun):

“Is it a problem for us? I don’t necessarily think it is a problem for us. But it is unwanted news, I suppose, is the best way to put it.

“You don’t want the players distracted. I don’t know how much they will absorb that.”

Also, the Newcastle boss thinks that linking his captain to another club in the middle of the season is ‘disrespectful’ to the player. Eddie Howe said:

“For me, it is not the time to think about it. In the summer, you can understand those stories a little bit more because the transfer window is open.

“To say our captain is in discussions with another club is totally disrespectful to Bruno more than anything else, he is totally committed here.

“I’m not going to be impolite, as this isn’t the forum for that, but for me, it is just a nonsense story.

“Bruno’s our captain, he’s fully committed, he’s injured at the moment, his only focus is coming back to fitness.”

This summer, without any doubt, there will be other clubs showing interest in Bruno Guimaraes. One thing is for sure: Newcastle will have a busy summer window.
