Manchester United are preparing to return to Premier League action. The focus is now on their upcoming clash against Leeds United.
However, injuries have caused problems in recent weeks. Several players have missed games at a crucial stage of the season.
Meanwhile, there is now a positive update from the camp. The club shared news through their official social media channels.
They posted a photo of Lisandro Martínez returning to full first-team training. The caption on the post read:
“Vamos, Lisandro Martinez. United’s no.6 is back in training with the squad.”
Lisandro Martinez has not played since the 1-1 draw against West Ham on February 10. He missed the last five matches due to a calf injury. That setback added to an already difficult season for him.
Meanwhile, Martinez has made only 15 appearances this season. His campaign started late after recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
At the same time, he has also spent time out after surgery on a fractured metatarsal. Injuries have disrupted his rhythm throughout the year.
However, his return now gives United a major boost. Interim head coach Michael Carrick will be hoping Martinez is ready for the final stretch.
United currently sit third in the Premier League table. They are pushing to secure Champions League qualification for next season.
At the same time, Patrick Dorgu also travelled with the squad. He continues to recover from a hamstring injury suffered against Arsenal in January.
Meanwhile, Benjamin Sesko and Bryan Mbeumo joined the group after withdrawing from international duty with knocks.
However, Matthijs de Ligt remains unavailable. He continues to deal with a lower back injury that has kept him out since November.
Also, Diogo Dalot and Tom Heaton stayed behind due to illness.
Harry Maguire will also miss the Leeds clash. The club also officially announced his contract extension.
Maguire will miss the game against Leeds due to a suspension following his red card against Bournemouth.
Licha back in the squad.
Harry’s new contract.Good day to be a centre-half 🤜🤛
