Arsenal once again finished a Premier League season in second place.
For the third season in a row, Arsenal ended their league campaign as runners up.
In 2022/23 and 2023/24, Arsenal got to experience what Liverpool had done for numerous years, the might of Manchester City.
For years, Arsenal were nowhere near the Premier League title race.
Their last title challenges since winning the league unbeaten in 2004 came in the 2007/08 and 2015/16 seasons.
In 2007/08, Arsenal went five points clear after a 2-0 home win against Blackburn Rovers.
A 2-2 draw and a William Gallas meltdown away to Birmingham City in their next game was followed by three further losses and a draw.
They would ultimately finish third.
In 2015/16 , Arsenal beat Leicester City 2-1 in February to move two points behind the Foxes.
They would ultimately finish that season in second place but 10 points behind Leicester.
Fast forward to 2022/23 and former player Mikel Arteta was looking like he could finally end the long league title drought during just his third full season in charge.
A 4-1 home win over Leeds United on March 31st had the Gunners possessing an eight-point lead.
However, three straight draws and a loss followed. They would end the season in second place and five points behind Man City.
After their second place finish the following season, ending the campaign just two points off the top spot, many thought Arsenal would make the step up in 2024/25.
In truth, Arsenal were nowhere near challenging Liverpool, earning another runners up finish.
This is despite Arsenal having the best defensive record in the league last season, with just 34 goals conceded.
Their defence impressed, despite the loss of centre-back Gabriel Magalhães to injury.
Arsenal will want to keep this part of their team strong, and they look set to give one of their players a new deal.
It has been reported that the club have confidence that a new deal will be given to young full-back Myles Lewis-Skelly.
The deal is said to be at an advanced stage, welcome news to Gunners fans with rumours of William Saliba wanting a move away.
Lewis-Skelly had an impressive breakthrough season in 2024/25 and earned his first England cap in the process.
Keeping him at the club long term should be one of the priorities at the boardroom level.
At the age of 18 and with incredible potential, the last thing the club would need is for him to move on.
