Benjamin Sesko is now a major doubt for Manchester United ahead of their upcoming clash against Sunderland.
The striker picked up a painful knock during the dramatic win over Liverpool at Old Trafford. The incident took place in the first half of the game.
Sesko was shoved off the pitch by Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate, and the referee chose not to award a free kick. That moment proved costly for United.
He was already managing a shin issue before the match. However, the collision made things worse. As a result, he had to be substituted at half-time with United leading 2-0.
The game changed quickly after the break. Liverpool managed to level the score within 11 minutes, which showed how important Sesko’s presence was in attack.
Although he returned to the dugout for the second half, he was clearly struggling. He was seen limping heavily, which raised concerns among the coaching staff.
Now, United are taking a cautious approach. The medical team will assess his condition over the next few days before making a final decision on his availability.
Speaking after the match, Michael Carrick provided an update on the situation. He said:
“He’s been carrying a bit of a shin problem for some time and it was when he got pushed into the hoarding and down the dip.”
Reports have also indicated that the injury is “quite painful,” which makes his involvement against Sunderland uncertain.
This is not the first time Sesko has dealt with this issue. He had already withdrawn from international duty with Slovenia in March to manage the same problem.
For now, all focus remains on Sesko’s recovery as United prepare for their next fixture.
